Padma Crop organic rice farm — lush paddy fields in Tamil Nadu

Our Story

Rooted in the Soil, Raised by the Rain.

Padma Crop was born from a simple belief — that the rice on your plate should carry the same care and integrity as the hands that grew it.

The Beginning

Where It All Began

Three generations ago, our family farmed the same red-soil fields in Tamil Nadu that we tend today. Back then, every grain was grown without chemicals, milled by stone, and sold at the local market. Then the Green Revolution arrived — and slowly, the old ways gave way to high-yield hybrids and synthetic inputs.

We watched heritage varieties disappear. We watched the soil lose its life. And we decided to go back.

In 2014, we converted our entire farm to certified organic cultivation. We sourced seed stock of traditional varieties from government seed banks and village elders. We rebuilt the soil with compost and green manure. Today, Padma Crop grows 12 traditional rice varieties across 40 acres of certified organic land — and ships them directly to families across India.

What We Stand For

Our Four Commitments

01

No Compromises on Purity

Every batch is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilisers. Our fields are certified by NPOP — India's national organic certification programme — and audited annually by a third-party inspector.

02

Heritage Varieties, Preserved

We grow only traditional Indian rice varieties — grains that evolved over centuries in specific micro-climates. Each variety has a distinct flavour, texture, and nutritional profile that modern hybrids simply cannot replicate.

03

Stone-Milled, Not Polished

Our rice is processed on traditional stone mills that remove only the outer husk, preserving the bran layer and its full complement of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibre. Industrial polishing strips all of this away.

04

Direct from Farm to You

We pack and ship directly from our farm. No middlemen, no warehousing delays, no re-bagging. What you receive was milled within days of your order — as fresh as rice can be.

From Seed to Sack

How We Farm

Traditional methods, refined over generations.

1

Seed Selection

We select seeds from the previous harvest's healthiest plants — a practice called mass selection that naturally improves the variety over time.

2

Nursery & Transplanting

Seedlings are raised in a dedicated nursery for 25–30 days, then hand-transplanted in rows — allowing each plant space to tiller and grow strong.

3

Natural Pest Management

We use neem-based sprays, pheromone traps, and encourage natural predators like spiders and frogs. No synthetic pesticides, ever.

4

Harvest & Stone Milling

Harvested by hand at peak maturity, sun-dried on the threshing floor, then stone-milled to order — preserving every nutrient the grain holds.

Trust & Transparency

Certified & Verified

Our organic status is not self-declared. It is independently audited and certified every year.

NPOP Organic

National Programme for Organic Production — India's gold standard for organic certification, governed by APEDA.

FSSAI Licensed

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India — ensuring every batch meets national food safety regulations.

Non-GMO

All seed stock is open-pollinated and non-genetically modified. We save and replant seeds each season.

Pesticide Free

Third-party lab-tested for pesticide residues before every dispatch. Certificates available on request.
